Across Africa
Helping women tell their stories through screenwriting
We curate and organise free and subsidised screenwriting classes for women at every proficiency level, from first-time writers to those sharpening a finished script.
What we do
She Writes Africa curates and organises screenwriting classes for women across the continent. Our classes are free or subsidised, and are grouped by proficiency level so that beginners and more experienced writers each get the guidance that suits them.
We work with women who want to write for film and television, whether they are picking up a pen for the first time or developing a script they have already started.
Classes for every level
Our screenwriting classes are organised by proficiency so every woman can join at the right stage.
Beginner classes
For women starting out, covering the basics of story and screenplay structure.
Intermediate classes
For women building on early skills and working on longer scripts.
Advanced classes
For women refining a finished or near-finished screenplay.
Free and subsidised places
Classes are offered free or at a subsidised cost, so cost is not a barrier.
